We dreamed of owning a vineyard and making wine since we first met in 1983. It took us a decade before we'd plant our first vine, and then another six years before we'd find this magnificent vineyard in Sonoma's Dry Creek Valley. Along the way we learned a lot! Most importantly, that wine is a source of endless discovery and rich friendships. Amista translates as "it makes friends" and in our experience creating this winery has been all about friendship. At each step in our journey, we've had friends encouraging, guiding and helping us realize our dream of owning a winery. Their enthusiasm and interest taught us that not only do we take great pleasure in growing grapes and making wine, but that we're invigorated by sharing our experience with others. And so, we've created a winery that welcomes old and new friends alike, to join us in exploring the natural rhythm and splendid beauty of wine country living.

		    Amista Cabernet Sauvignon

This elegant Bordeaux style cab fills your mouth with a soft berry cassis flavor. This is a lighter style cabernet that has hints of caramel and a smooth finish that complements lighter meats and even fish dishes like salmon with a ginger soy marinade.

		    Amista Chardonnay

A light, crisp, classic French burgundy style wine— all chardonnay— no oak, no butter. This wine shows its citrus and stone fruit flavors with a mineral finish. It was aged in neutral oak (several vintages old) with no malo-lactic (secondary) fermentation. It shines with shrimp in a lemon butter sauce on rigatoni or a fig and blue cheese salad.

		    Amista Syrah

This is a big mouthful with hints of smoke and spice. The full fruit flavors buzz around your mouth and finish with a smooth tannin finish. This syrah wants to share your palate with grilled meat such as a barbequed tri-tip or a fine rib eye steak.

		    Amista Zinfandel

A supple red wine with a hint of pepper. It has light fresh berry fruit and wild strawberry on the finish. This wine is made to drink now, and is perfect with spaghetti, pizza or other fun Italian food.

		    Rosé of Syrah

This dry rosé is the perfect summer wine—bright and crisp and meant to drink chilled on a balmy afternoon. The spicy cassis and rhubarb flavors couple with a nice acidity to enhance a wide range of summer meals. It’s perfect with vine ripened tomatoes, steamed mussels, grilled oysters or barbecued shrimp.
