Whidbey Island Vineyard & Winery

Whidbey Island Vineyard & Winery Washington provides a rich palette to the winemaker, and we try to reflect this diversity in our wines; from our crisp fragrant whites, perfectly suited to the region's culinary treasures; our unusual lighthearted rhubarb wine; to serious reds and whites from classic varieties grown in some of eastern Washington's finest vineyards. Whidbey Island Vineyard & Winery began in 1986 and is owned and operated by Gregory and Elizabeth Osenbach. We proudly handcraft small lots of wine using traditional European methods. Much of our production is sold at the Winery, near scenic Langley, Washington. We invite you to come discover our award-winning wines, enjoy the winery grounds, and learn more about our grape growing and winemaking.

Directions
From the Mukilteo-Clinton ferry: Follow Hwy 525 about 3.5 mi. to the first traffic light, turn right on Langley Road, follow for 2 mi., winery is on right. From Oak Harbor, Pt. Townsend-Keystone ferry and other points north: Follow Hwy 20 / 525 down the island to the traffic light at Langley and Cultus Bay Roads, turn left onto Langley RD., follow for 2 mi., winery is on right.

  Cabernet Franc ~ Yakima Valley
Complex and approachable, this wine from Bordeaux's other Cabernet offers flavors of earthy dark fruit, bright cranberry & chocolate with soft tannins. Very smooth and versatile, try it with pork, duck, turkey, and salmon
  Cabernet Sauvignon ~ Yakima Valley
A beautiful balance of fruit, tannin, oak and acid make this wine very drinkable now and an excellent candidate for the cellar. Classic cherry and currant flavors with hints of cedar and spice, aromas of dark fruit and vanilla from aging in French, American and Hungarian oak
  Chardonnay ~ Yakima Valley
A pleasant departure from the usual style, this wine features big, rich tropical fruit flavors balanced with creamy vanilla, butter and toast notes from partial fermentation in new American oak and extended lees aging. Serve with chicken, seafood and pork dishes.
  Composition
This Bordeaux style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 50%, Merlot 45%, Cabernet Franc 5% shows classic aromas and flavors of leather, spice, cassis and red cherry.
  Island White ~ Puget Sound
This durable blend of Madeleine Sylvander, Madeleine Angevine and remains our most popular white. Finished with a bit of residual sugar (1.25%), it is a fruity, fragrant accompaniment to chicken and seafood dishes, fruits, cheeses and lazy afternoons.
  Late Harvest Viognier ~ Yakima Valley
Flavors of pear, honey, apricot and tropical fruit are balanced with a crisp mineral background in this luscious and rich dessert wine. Packaged in a 375ml cobalt bottle with a waxed capsule it is an elegant addition to this wine list.
  Lemberger ~ Yakima Valley
A delicious, productive and cold hardy grape variety from Germany and Austria that thrives in eastern Washington, which is the only place in the US it is grown. While its name doesn't exactly make it fly off the shelf, don't be put off, it is well worth a try. It is a medium bodied wine with spicy black pepper, toasty oak, and creamy cherry and blackberry flavors. Try it with grilled foods, lamb, pasta or pizza, or BBQ salmon. Bright and rambunctious when young, silky and complex with age. Aged in American oak.
  Madeleine Angevine ~ Puget Sound
A prodigous producer in our island vineyards, this variety originated in france's Loire valley. The wine is characterized by flavors of citrus, melon, pear and apple, and by big flowery spicy aromas. Finished bone dry, its delicacy and lively acidity make it a great accompaniment to oysters; and to fish, chicken and vegetable dishes; especially those with lemon, wine or capers
  Merlot ~ Yakima Valley
A big rich Merlot, with great plum and cherry fruit over hints spice and chocolate. Balanced fruit, tannin and oak; excellent aging potential. Aged in French oak.
  Pinot Gris ~ Yakima Valley
An elegant balance of fruity and flinty, crisp and creamy makes this a great food wine. Tank fermented cold to preserve fruitiness and aged on the lees for richness, try it with chicken or seafood, especially crab and shellfish.
  Reserve Chardonnay~ Yakima Valley
Like breakfast on Maui—Loads of tropical fruit, lots of butter, a little toast, fruity and very laid-back. 40 cases.
  Rhubarb
A wine that has converted many a skeptic; refreshingly tart, off-dry, and unmistakably rhubarb, it is made strictly form rhubarb, which is grown here on Whidbey. a versatile food wine, it is especially good with roast turkey, as well as salmon, spicy Asian or Indian food (curries!), pork, or even fruit cobblers. Try it as a base for a marinade for pork chops.
  Rosato ~ Washington Rose
A vivacious, lighthearted wine with flavors of strawberries and cream, peaches and pomegranate, and just a hint of sweetness. Perfect with your backyard BBQ, salmon and lamb.
  Sangiovese ~ Yakima Valley
This has been rated "Outstanding" by Wine Press Northwest as a "delightful Tuscanstyle red with rich berry aromas and flavors, with well-integrated oak, delicious structure and bold acidity." Only four Washington Sangiovese's were rated outstanding in the feature article. We add to their description flavors of black cherry, cola, hints of licorice, leather & dark chocolate, with a long spicy finish. It is a sophisticated combination of bright fruit and refined earthiness. 95 cases
  Siegerrebe ~ Puget Sound
This cross of Gewurztraminer and Madeleine Angevine developend in Germany has incredible spice and floral aromas; with flavors of grapefruit, honey, spice, pears and apricots. Finished with just enough sweetness to compliment its fruit (RS 1.25%), it is great by itself, with fruits and cheeses or with spicy Asian foods. Infinitely easier to drink than pronounce . . . (see-geh-RAY-buh).
  Syrah ~ Yakima Valley
Fermented with a small amount of Viognier in the style of the Northern Rhone, this is a rich wine with coffee, leather and spice in the nose, and flavors of jammy ripe fruit ; plum and dark cherries, dark chocolate, blueberry, and strawberry.

We waited patiently for these grapes from Crawford vineyards in Prosser and are thrilled to release this delicious wine. Peaches & orange aroma is followed by luscious peach and apricot flavors backed by delicate tropical fruits and a touch of flint. Dry, no oak. 200 cases.
