Signorello Vineyards
|
|
Signorello Vineyards makes limited quantities of premium varietals that blend classic French winemaking characteristics with California fruit. Our style of winemaking is directly tied to our vineyards. We strive for lush, concentrated fruit flavors, and good acid balance in all our wines. The goal is to have wines with early accessibility, as well as potential to develop additional complexity as they mature

“Luvisi Vineyard” Zinfandel
Our goal is to make classic California Zinfandel using traditional French techniques that enhance fruit character and balance. We lightly crushed and destemmed the grapes, fermented and pumped over 3 times daily. The must was pressed at dryness and aged for 13 months in barrels. We used a combination of French and American oak. (17% New American oak and 18% new French Oak. The wine was not filtered before bottling on December 1, 2003.

Chardonnay Estate “Vieilles Vignes”
We are pleased to present the 2003 Chardonnay Estate “Vieilles Vignes” made from our 25-year-old vines located on our “front block” property in the Oak Knoll section of Napa Valley. We hand selected these grapes to create this native yeast fermented Chardonnay with characteristics of rich apple and pear. The vines yielded an average of 1.9 tons per acre allowing us to produce only 210 cases.

Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
A reticent nose opens to black currant, vanilla and hints of cedar. The lush full-bodied palate continues with flavors of ripe cassis, vanilla and hints of tobacco. A long and intense finish is accentuated by the young velvety tannins. Drinkability: now through 2017.

Pinot Noir Carneros “Las Amigas Vineyard"
Destemmed pinot noir grapes plus 10% whole clusters were cold macerated for 96 hours in open-top tanks before fermentation on native yeasts. The must was punched down three times daily during 14 days of fermentation, then pressed and racked to the tank. The press fraction was not used for this wine to assure the highest quality possible. After settling out in the tank for 24 hours, the wine was inoculated for malolactic fermentation (MLF) and barreled down in 54% new French oak (François Freres, Sirugue, and Remond.) Following traditional Burgundian techniques that advocate minimal handling, the wine was neither filtered nor fined with only one racking before bottling on March 3, 2003.

Seta
This barrel fermented blend of 60 % Semillon, 40% Sauvignon Blanc is made in the style of a traditional white Graves from Bordeaux. The grapes for this wine are sourced from our low yielding vines located on the Silverado Trail in the Oak Knoll area. “Seta” is Italian for silk, which appropriately describes this lush silky blend of these two noble varietals.

Syrah Estate
Our estate Syrah vineyard was planted in 1992 and is located on the Silverado trail in the Oak Knoll district. The split canopy maximizes the ripening of the fruit. Leaf removal, fruit thinning and dry farming are used to achieve the perfect maturity for these varietals.
