Syrah Wine Details
Price: $32.00 per bottle

Description: The 2001 Syrah is full bodied and tantalizing all the way across the palate. It reveals a sense of power at the same time as being complex and suggestive. The wine has aromas of blackberries, wild plums, and dried raspberries with hints of tangerine and honeysuckle. A solid but well integrated core of tannins is surrounded by smoke, bacon, white pepper, and garrique. The wine’s layers of vibrant fruit play off an amazing balance of acid and tannins. This wine is very alluring and delivers as long creamy finish and an urge to drink more of it. The 2001 Syrah will pair well with wild game, cassoulet, meat, and strong cheeses. We recommend cellaring this wine for 5 – 9 years or decant for enjoying tonight.

Varietal Definition
Syrah is the eight hundred pound gorilla of Rhone grapes! In the vineyard and the winery, Syrah is typically an easy grape to work with - healthy, early ripening, resistant to mildew and rot; suitable for winemaking in a variety of styles. The wines from Syrah are tannic without being harsh. The wines will have a taste and smell of dark blue fruit like blackberries and blackcurrant, with a strong spicy side where one can find freshly ground pepper and other spices. Syrah is famous for its part in the French blends, such as Côtes du Rhone and Châteauneuf du Pape.
