Syrah "Reckless Moment" Paso Robles

Syrah "Reckless Moment" Paso Robles Wine Details

Description: The 2005 Syrah "Reckless Moment" comes from Margarita Vineyard, the southernmost vineyard in the Paso Robles appellation. Here, just 14 miles from the Pacific Ocean, cool coastal breezes lengthen the growing season, resulting in Syrah with magnificent color, flavor and structure. The 2005 vintage begins with warm, toasty aromas of black cherry with hints of pomegranate and fig. The palate is broad and bright, unfolding with vivid flavors of blackberry, plum, blueberry and mocha. Soft tannins contribute structure to a long, elegant finish.

Varietal Definition
Syrah is the eight hundred pound gorilla of Rhone grapes! In the vineyard and the winery, Syrah is typically an easy grape to work with - healthy, early ripening, resistant to mildew and rot; suitable for winemaking in a variety of styles. The wines from Syrah are tannic without being harsh. The wines will have a taste and smell of dark blue fruit like blackberries and blackcurrant, with a strong spicy side where one can find freshly ground pepper and other spices. Syrah is famous for its part in the French blends, such as Côtes du Rhone and Châteauneuf du Pape.
