Chardonnay Columbia Valley

Chardonnay Columbia Valley Wine Details
Price: $12.00 per bottle

Description: The handpicked Chardonnay grapes were carefully hand sorted to control quality before the whole clusters were placed in the press. After gentle pressing and cold settling, the juice was racked off gross lees and inoculated with selected yeast. Most of the juice was fermented in stainless steel tank at cold temperature to preserve its freshness and the full expression of the varietal character. A small portion of the blend was fermented and aged in new French Oak barrels. We stir the fine fermentation lees for few months before racking tanks and barrels to enhance complexity and richness of the mid-palate. The appearance of this wine is bright with an appealing pale gold color. The nose shows ripe apple and Anjou pear aromas with a light note of golden peach, and honeysuckle. The palate is very crisp and refreshing with green apple, tropical fruit, citrus, and vanilla flavors. This food-friendly wine framed with good acidity and body finishes with a delicate toasty note.

Varietal Definition
Chardonnay is by far the most widely planted grape crop in California and dominates California’s cooler, coastal, quality wine regions. The natural varietal ‘taste and smell’ of Chardonnay is surprisingly unfamiliar to many wine drinkers, as its true character is often guised with dominating winemaking signatures. Chardonnay’s rather subdued primary fruit characteristics lean toward the crisp fruitiness of apples, pears and lemon, but the variety’s full body is capable of supporting a host of complementary characteristics, such as oak, butter and vanilla. Regardless of what is the appropriate style for Chardonnay, the varietal continues to dominate vineyard plantings in every corner of the world. Close attention to clonal selection has made this broad geographic and climactic range of Chardonnay viable in thoughtful viticultural hands.
