Sauvignon Blanc

Sauvignon Blanc Wine Details
Price: $15.00 per bottle

Description: Our estate vineyard of Sauvignon Blanc from the new Oak Knoll appellation, near Yountville exemplifies our conviction that balanced vineyards produce balanced wines. Commitment to balance follows the fruit from the vineyard into the winery. Whole cluster pressing to maximize fruit flavors, combination of stainless steel and barrel fermentations along with Sur lie aging increase the mouth fullness/richness while preserving the fruit and acidity. This wine offers aromas of grapefruit, pear, pear blossom, melon, and lemon rind. Flavors of fresh lemons and grapefruit combine with a fresh, bright acidity and a lingering finish. This wine is a perfect match for summer salads, feta or goat cheese, and Spanish tapas.

Varietal Definition
Sauvignon Blanc:
Sauvignon Blanc is widely grown in California — at over 15,000 acres, it’s now the third most planted variety — and often assumes the moniker ‘Fume Blanc’. This popular synonym, credited to Napa’s Robert Mondavi, derives from the grape’s historic home of Pouilly in France’s Upper Loire Valley, where Sauvignon Blanc is the dominant varietal and goes locally by the name of ‘Blanc Fumé’. When treated with respect and afforded suitable growing conditions, Sauvignon Blanc is one of the wine world’s darlings. Steely, racy acidity, green, gooseberry fruit, asparagus and a grassy, herbaceous character characterize dry wines made from this grape.
